ERHL Hits The Shuffle Button

As you can on the column to the right, the ERHL rejiggered the divisions, as well as announcing the remainder of the 2008-09 schedule for all the teams. The Allblacks are staying in Division 4, but will now have the Pink Penetrators (up from Division 5) and Trouser Snakes (down from Division 3) to contend with. Div 4 also loses four teams, as the Kodiaks II (moving up after laying a spanking on the Allblacks last Saturday) are moving up, whilst the C-Bros Bulldogs, Prairie Wind and Rhinos all fly south to lower divisions.

Thus, Division 4 is now a set of eight (8) teams, where the top six make the playoffs. Savvy?

Time/Location Change For November 14 Game

Just a quick note that the ERHL has switched our game on Friday, November 14 from the CAC to :

So, as you can see, this new Allblacks is one of the most infrequently updated sites out there. The Allblacks have played seven games now this season, winning five of them. Their two losses came to the Edmonton Ukes, who used the Allblacks as fodder for their eventual move up to Division 2, and to the Kodiaks II (insert cliched excuse for a loss here, for instance "The refs were crap", "The ice was choppy", "The fans were on us", etc.).

As for the wins, well, seldom has a team looked better in victory. With scores like 9-2, 11-2, and 9-5, the offence is firing on all cylinders, and the defence and goaltending (last night's 7-6 win over the Wolverines notwithstanding) has also performed well.

So, the mid-quarter-half-season report card for the Allblacks' inaugural winter season can be summed up as :

Very nice.

Never Say Never Again

Well, that didn't take long. After denying that I'd start up an Allblacks site all summer, and after walking away from the Bee Sharps site midway through writing a story during the spring, yes - the new team I'm playing on, the Allblacks, have a website.

And this is it. Not a lot to look at, is it? And that's the way it'll stay. You can see the schedule and the ERHL standings on the right hand side of the page, there's some ads to help pay the bills, a neat little widget that allows you to follow the NHL scores, and a banner that shamelessly rips off the All Blacks rugby logo. Oh, and there's a picture of two fierce looking table hockey players, too. Grr!

There will be the odd story, too, like this one - short, meandering, and completely pointless, except that it will probably mention the final score of the game we just played. No stats, no pictures, no hockey cards. Just a whole bunch of fun, which is what the Allblacks hope to bring to the ice in their first winter ERHL season.
